Harmonie-Rose Ivy Allen faced a challenging start in life when, at just eleven months old, she was diagnosed with meningitis B. The consequences were severe, leading to the amputation of both her arms and legs. However, a recent gift brought a glimmer of joy to the little girl from Bath, UK, as she received a specially customized quadruple amputee doll. This doll became more than just a toy; it became a reflection of Harmonie herself.
“Mummy, she’s just like me,” exclaimed Harmonie, now two years old, as reported by ABC News. The doll underwent modifications by A Step Ahead Prosthetics, a company based in the US that specializes in adapting American Girl dolls to resemble amputees. This service is provided free of charge to parents, aiming to alleviate the sense of isolation that children with missing limbs may experience.
Harmonie’s parents shared their joy on their Facebook page named Hope 4 Harmonie, expressing their gratitude for the doll’s arrival.
